TRANSMUTATION OF SEXUAL ENERGY : THE SPARK THAT LIGHTS THE FIRE

Over the course of the next few weeks, we will explore Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich, under a modern Benshen-esque lens. Though one might believe that wealth only equals money, “rich” expands beyond that: it means being able to create prosperity in your life, which can take shape in many different forms. Money is just one medium. Prosperity goes so far beyond financial gains and Hill, with his 13 Principles of Success and teachings on the Laws of the Universe, pioneered a unique roadmap to excellence and how to unlock prosperity—one that focuses on how to program our mental faculties rather than lean on external circumstances.

We’ve just wrapped up the sexiest astrological season of the year—Scorpio season—the sign characterized by the sinewy depths of sex, death, rebirth, and transformation. We round it out to talk Napoleon Hill and perhaps his most radical Law of Success: Transmutation of Sexual Energy.

Let’s begin by understanding sexual energy. From a purely biological perspective, the act of sex is to create life. The joining of the sperm + the egg, and all that unfolds through gestation, holds the potential to create a human being, a new life. When we look at it through this lens, we can begin to understand the connection between sexual and creative energy, and how closely the two are tied together from an energetic perspective.

Sex is one of the most potent driving forces on the planet. What the ancients have tried to teach us over thousands of years is that we can actually harness this energy and use it to create. The question is, create what? Our dreams, of course.

To be clear, we’re not talking about the actual act of intercourse here. We’re talking about channeling desires, tapping into what we really want, getting turned on by it and using that turn-on to fuel our passions and dreams in ways that arouse us with a purpose.

In this newsletter, we’re getting honest about our desires, and discussing how to channel the inherent turn-on we all have to ignite our dreams.

LAW No.10 | THE MYSTERY OF
SEXUAL TRANSMUTATION

— THE ALCHEMY OF CREATIVITY —

“The emotion of sex contains the secret of creative ability.”

— Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich, 1937

Taking sexual energy and alchemizing it into action is the inspiration for Hill’s tenth principle. Essentially, he describes sexual energy as the power that unleashes our innate creative potential and the fuel that can propel us to create and embody the highest version of ourselves. For example, think of the last time you were attracted to someone. Maybe just the thought of potentially running into them during the day gave you a thrill or maybe it somehow lit a fire under your ass to put yourself out there and shine your light a little brighter. That’s the spark of sexual energy; when that energy gets aroused within us, it can inspire us to take action in our lives and our personal pursuits in ways we may not have had before. Or another example of this is if you can recall a breakup (romantic or otherwise) that, while in the moment may have been a painful experience, ended up being the catalyst to completely and radically transform your life.

In both situations, we can look at different relationships as mirrors; not to say we are changing for them but these experiences, when alchemized, wake a sleeping dragon within. We can use them to transmute energy and turn something into gold. This is the exact definition of alchemy. These mirrors reflect the fact that the drive or the qualities we want to embody were ALWAYS within us, but sometimes, it takes a little spark to light the fire. Hill teaches that this sexual heat is actually where some of our biggest drive to create comes from and we can use it with intention and care to spin the experiences we want to have by acknowledging our inner desires and what we want most.

We can use this concept of transmutation to reflect within ourselves what we most want to embody. Get your notebook and turn on some music to explore how to begin to transmute energy.

Take a moment to reflect:

- What are the qualities that we “turn on” when we want to call in love, for example (for the sake of learning through sexual transmutation). List them in your journal.

- What’s stopping us from activating those qualities or experiences all the time rather than waiting for someone to come along so we can bring them out from within?

- And if there’s something we believe we can improve upon, how can we give ourselves the grace to love ourselves even more, to let ourselves shine no matter what?

These are the reflection questions that will allow us to transform and step up into our highest power. Take one area and put it into action, and explore what unfolds as we begin to step into our most uninhibited selves.

“When harnessed, and redirected along other lines, this motivating force maintains all of its attributes of keenness of imagination, courage, etc., which may be used as powerful creative forces in literature, art, or in any other profession or calling, including, of course, the accumulation of riches”

―Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich, 1937
